The shortlist for the Credit Awards 2018, which will be held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 17 May, has been announced.
The Credit Awards aim to reward innovation and recognise the achievements of firms of all sizes within the credit industry. The awards are made up of 24 categories with almost half being new for this year.
Lowell, one of the largest debt purchase and credit management companies in Europe, is the headline sponsor of this year’s awards, while other sponsors include Court Enforcement Services, Merje, Bonafidee, Cabot Credit Management, Flexys, and Freedom Finance.
The award categories reflect the broad remit of individuals and teams working across the credit profession, covering collections, credit risk, public sector, outsourcing, alternative lending, utilities and more.
New categories for this year’s awards include a Special Award for Outstanding Chief Risk Officer, which features the CROs at Nationwide Building Society, CYBG and Shawbrook Bank in the shortlist. Among the other new categories are Best Company to Work For, Credit Modelling and Risk, Utilities Team of the Year, Telecoms Team of the Year and Debt Advice Provider of the Year.
Some of the other large organisations shortlisted include British Gas, Shell, E.on, Sky, Bank of Ireland, 3, Virgin Money, Tesco Bank, Blackhorse and the Cabinet Office.
A panel of judges now faces the challenge of reviewing the shortlist and picking out the winners for each category, winners will be announced on an unmissable night at the Credit Awards hosted by exceptionally talented comedian, Katherine Ryan.
This year’s judging panel once again features seasoned professionals who are highly respected within the industry.
Last year’s awards saw more than 1,000 professionals attend from a range of private and public sector organisations, including the UK’s largest banks, credit card companies, utilities and telecoms giants, along with HM Revenue & Customs, specialists such as Investec Asset Finance and auto finance providers including GM Financial. Previous attendee Mike O’Reilly, collections risk manager at EE, described the event as the "best awards night in the calendar."
