Ahead of the curve: Five reasons why Intelligent Environments secured the Best Collections Technology Award

Credit Strategy is now publicising the reasons why companies and teams win awards across our different events – and we’re starting with Intelligent Environments’ success at last month’s Collections & Customer Service (CCS) Awards.

All the awards across Credit Strategy’s programmes are decided by voting systems, in which independent judging panels cast their votes for the winner.

The CCS Awards panel for this year featured experts in collections such as Mark Gregory, senior supplier manager, recoveries, at Barclaycard, Gary Jones, head of recoveries at HSBC and Ian Worthington, senior recoveries strategy manager at MBNA, along with senior collections directors at Yorkshire Building Society, Vanquis Bank, The Student Loans Company and a local authority – Hammersmith & Fulham Council. The full list of judges can be found on the CCS Awards page.

Intelligent Environments, a software provider to major creditors, won the Best Collections Technology Award at the CCS Awards in Manchester last week (November 22), held at the Midland Hotel.

The firm’s key product for this market is Interact® Collect, a platform that provides a non-confrontational debt recovery service by providing a self-serve option. Credit Strategy has highlighted five elements of the product that helped to secure the judges’ votes:

1 Enhanced self-serve experience
Interact® Collect provides self-serve options to customers, enabling them to manage their debt independently, go through a full income and expenditure (I&E) analysis, set up their own repayment plans, direct debits and create personalised debt plans.

2 ROI for clients
Companies that use Interact® have reduced their overall costs to collect. This includes a 15-minute reduction in call length when completing I&E checks, a 50 percent cut in the operational costs of debts recovered, and a 50 percent increase in recovery rates. An example of the ROI during a five-year period for a large tier-one institution using Interact® shows the company reduced collections costs by a total of £9.2m.

3 Compliance assurance
Interact® is compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (level one), an information security standard for organisations that manage vast amounts of consumer credit card data. Intelligent Environments also secured a mark of approval from Fairbanking – a charity dedicated to encouraging banking institutions to improve the financial well-being of their customers.

4 Cyber security
Intelligent Environments is collaborating with the Queen’s University Belfast Centre for Secure Information Technologies to help develop the world’s first attack-aware software. The software, Interact AppSensorFS, involves the innovative use of machine learning to recognise when a hacker is entering, or is already inside, a banking system.

5 Independent industry recognition
Interact® has been recognised as a product that enhances “a well-defined” digital banking platform in a recent report. The Forrester Wave™: Digital Banking Engagement Platforms, Q3 2017. The report hailed 11 off-the-shelf solutions that point to “the future of digital banking”.

The CCS Awards judges said this was a clear and compelling submission with outstanding evidence of commercial benefits.

They said: “Interact® Collect allows customers to truly self-serve all aspects of their accounts giving them much more control and providing a true digital option even when their account is in arrears.

“Strong benefits were articulated across cost reductions, increased recovery rates and lower call handling times. This is a great self-serve product; it’s the future of collections.”
