Kieran Douglas, FTI Consulting
FTI Consulting has appointed Kieran Douglas as managing director in the firm’s corporate finance and restructuring segment in London. Douglas joins with more than 15 years of oil and gas experience in corporate finance, M&A, structured finance and risk management, with deals experience in event-driven financing and capital raising.
At FTI Consulting, Douglas will continue to focus on oil and gas distressed situations, having joined after seven years at DNB Bank.
Lee Lockwood, Begbies Traynor
Begbies Traynor Group has promoted Lee Lockwood to partner in its BTG Advisory division. Based in the Leeds office, he works across the Yorkshire region. With more than 15 years’ restructuring experience, Lockwood previously worked for Kroll and most of his career has been spent working alongside the clearing banks.
Patrick Corr, Faegre Drinker
International law firm Faegre Drinker has recruited two restructuring lawyers, Patrick Corr in Europe and James F. Conlan in the USA, as partners in the firm’s finance and restructuring practice. Both come from Sidley Austin, where they held senior practice leadership positions.
The finance and restructuring practice of Faegre Drinker advises clients on financial transactions, corporate debt restructurings, bankruptcy and litigation. Corr will be based in London and Conlan will work across US offices.
Simon Carrier, DSW Debt Advisory
DSW Debt Advisory, the new service launched just before the lockdown to help companies raise debt funding, has hired another senior banker. Simon Carrier, who recently departed as regional managing director of Shawbrook Bank, has joined as a partner.
Carrier’s 25-year banking career includes spells at RBS, Bank of Ireland and Santander where, as regional director of its corporate and commercial arm, he helped introduce its business banking service across Merseyside, Lancashire and Cheshire. Part of the Dow Schofield Watts group and based in Cheshire, DSW helps firms seeking debt funding of £5m to £200m.
Joanne Wright, Duff & Phelps
Duff & Phelps has appointed Joanne Wright as managing director of the firm’s new UK Personal Insolvency team. Based in Manchester, Wright joins with more than 30 years of experience. She brings expertise in debt negotiation, investigative bankruptcy and deceased estates, having spent 20 years specialising in personal insolvency. She joins from Begbies Traynor where she was a partner in its business rescue and recovery practice.
Kevin Hellard, Grant Thornton
Kevin Hellard, partner at Grant Thornton UK, will be president of the Insolvency Practitioners Association for the next 12 months, serving as chair of the board and as the association’s key representative. Now the insolvency and asset recovery practice leader at Grant Thornton, he has more than 25 years’ experience in contentious insolvency. Hellard pioneered the use of insolvency powers to trace and recover assets on an international basis.
