Q: What kind of work/cases have you been working on since lockdown?
A: Prepacks, restructurings, cross border, Expert witness in the USA and formal insolvency.
Q: When do you think we’ll start to see an increase in corporate insolvencies?
A: Q2 in 2021.
Q: What advice would you give to the next generation of people working in either turnaround, restructuring or insolvency?
A: Gain exposure to as a wide a variety as possible of work. It stands you in good stead. Sit the JIEB exams after a few years before your student exams become a distant memory!
Q: What do you think is the biggest challenge, or issue, for those working to rescue businesses?
A: Removing the stigma of insolvency and getting directors to seek advice earlier, when there is still time to explore options. The new moratorium and new restructuring plan should assist.
Q: Without giving too much away, what do you hope delegates will learn from your session at the TRI Conference?
A: Practical discussion on the proposed new prepack reforms and how these might play out.
Q: What other sessions are you looking forward to at this year’s TRI Conference?
A: The Fraud panel chaired by my senior partner, Frances Coulson. The panel looks superb.
