I, Catherine (CIGB), was recently interviewed by an investigative journalist who focuses mostly on scams against consumers.  He had examples of where the data lag in credit information had provided an opportunity for scammers to exploit consumers not once but multiple times.

The question the journalist put to me was: “Why aren’t we using real time data in credit information?”

It was a fair question as he cited AI and slick systems within the lending world to approve lending and distribute funds into borrower’s accounts almost instantly but a clear inability to update credit information records with the same speed. We are in the information age and in general life there is now an expectation of everything instantly and on demand. The ability to apply for and be granted credit has already met that expectation.

In this discussion, we'll be covering:

  • Why aren’t we operating in real time yet in credit information?
  • How far off from real time data is your firm and the industry in general?
  • What are the barriers or issues you can foresee with moving to real time data?
  • How AI is being used as a solution
