Get ready: Credit Awards 2018

So here we are again, a year has come and gone and by now, you will know if you are one of the 98 companies shortlisted for the 19th Credit Awards. Laurence Hamilton, UK third party collections managing director, at Lowell wishes all Credit Awards finalists the best of luck.

If you are one of those lucky enough to have been selected – congratulations! As headline sponsors, the team from Lowell and I look forward to seeing you all at the event and sharing the opportunity to celebrate on May 17 at what is the UK credit industry’s flagship event.

With so many categories to review, the job of judging is difficult enough but everybody had such strong entries it made it even more hard! No need to reach for violins and hankies, we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Lowell was founded on the belief that there was a better way to carry out collections activity and that’s embedded in how we work – the Lowell Way. We value innovation, excellence, compassion, respect and ambition. We also understand that every customer has a story and how we deal with them at an individual level is so important, which is why we are proud to sponsor the Credit Awards.

Those of you who go on to win, can rightly consider yourselves amongst the best in the UK credit industry. The values, behaviours and actions you have shown are those we are all aiming to deliver for our customers and clients. You are setting examples for others follow.

The credit industry plays such an important part in our society: It supports our economy, creates jobs, and produces tax revenue for the nation. So it is right that we identify and recognise the amazing work that is done to make the system better for everyone involved.

Previous winners of these awards include names you associate with an ethical approach and high levels of customer service; like Nationwide, TDX and AXA. Then there are those for whom these awards are about changing the face of credit, like totallymoney.com or iwoca, while others, like Investec are sector specialists. Every one of this year’s winners join a very special group of organisations.

Our venue on London’s world famous Park Lane, the Grosvenor House Hotel, provides a fantastic setting for what promises to be one of the biggest and best industry events of the year. You will get the chance to mingle with industry friends of old, and maybe make some new ones, at the drinks reception and the awards themselves.

This years’ host, award-winning Canadian comedian Katherine Ryan, who some, if not all of you, will recognise from Have I got news for you, Mock the Week, QI and Live at the Apollo, will keep us entertained throughout.

After all the awards are handed out, in the very best credit industry traditions, there will be the opportunity for more networking, congratulations and dancing like your dad (or other relation who has no rhythm).

Whether you win an award or not, all our shortlisted companies deserve recognition. The fact you have looked at what you do and how to do it better than before should be celebrated in its own right. For every letter that’s been re-written, process that’s been simplified, product and technology solution that’s been rolled out, there are thousands of customers that have had a better outcome.

Congratulations everyone!
