Judging complete as Women in Credit Awards 2020 approach

Judges from across credit and professional services met at Pollen Street Capital’s offices in Mayfair to consider the record number of entries to the Women in Credit Awards, as well as to share knowledge and experiences.

Highlights included discussion of the importance of diversity in the production of automated – and particularly artificial intelligence – systems, which are still largely designed and constructed by male-dominated teams and can lead to unconscious bias in the final product’s processes and outcomes.

Judges also shared alarming experiences of gender discrimination they have faced, including several who had promotions withdrawn when returning from maternity leave.

These experiences bear out the responses Credit Strategy received to a major survey it carried out, in which we heard the experience for women in the industry can be “gruelling” and can often lead to them not feeling valued in the workplace.
