The Turnaround, Restructuring and Insolvency (TRI) Awards, which this year feature new categories to champion individual and company-wide efforts to promote diversity in the workplace, are now open for entry.
After its milestone 10th anniversary last year, the TRI Awards categories for 2018 have been refreshed to reflect one of the current challenges for turnaround, restructuring and insolvency firms – how to ensure diversity and inclusiveness in their workforce right up to the highest level.
In that context the awards programme will feature two new categories:
Both categories are open to any company, regulator or trade body operating in the turnaround, restructuring and insolvency space.
As well as reflecting current issues for the TRI profession, this year’s awards programme will also, much more directly, champion the exceptional achievements of smaller insolvency practices.
The 2018 awards will therefore feature a new category, Boutique Insolvency Firm of the Year, to reward outstanding firms with no more than three, licensed appointment-taking insolvency practitioners.
Other awards have been added this year to reward best practice in areas of the industry that until now have not been widely recognised.
The new Property Valuation Provider of the Year category, for example, will recognise companies that play an essential part in maximising returns for creditors, in either corporate or personal insolvencies. This category will be open to businesses called in to manage successful, realistic property valuations, of either commercial or private property in corporate or personal insolvency processes, to ensure sums are recovered for creditors.
Another new category for 2018 is Insurance and Litigation Funding Broker, which recognises the growth of companies playing a pivotal role in enabling insolvency litigation to proceed.
Lastly, the insolvency barrister of the year category has been changed to Insolvency and Restructuring Chambers of the Year, to better reflect the entire case work of chambers operating across the TRI space.

This year the awards take place at the Hilton London Bankside hotel on November 6.
The TRI Conference: Special Situations and Turnaround, will take place prior to the TRI Awards. Bringing together turnaround specialists with private equity funds, M&A advisors and corporates, the conference returns for its second year.
