On Wednesday (September 13), the second Annual EMEA Emerging Leaders Awards, supported by ACG UK, took place – an event running in partnership between Credit Strategy and the M&A Advisor.

The evening celebrated the accomplishments of M&A, Financing and Turnaround professionals, whose significant level of success has established them as emerging leaders in their industry – before turning the age of 40.

The individuals were judged on their career accomplishments and professional expertise in the M&A space, as well as their input to community service, philanthropic endeavours and any unique circumstances.

The 2017 awards programme featured winners from five categories: Dealmaker, Legal Professional, Service Professional, Marketing, Communication & Business Development Professional and Corporate Development Executive.

The M&A Advisor, renowned globally for its presentation and recognition of outstanding professionals in the field of M&A, financing and turnaround professionals, created the Emerging Leaders Awards recognition programme in the US in 2010.

The scheme is unique in that the winners are announced before the ceremony took place, maintaining a tradition in which the awards night itself is similar to a graduation ceremony.

During the evening, attendees raised £2,675 for the event’s chosen charity - Healing Venezuela. The charity, founded by a group of Venezuelans living in the UK, sends donated medical supplies to hospitals, promotes mental health programmes, and assists doctors in the UK to transfer their know-how to doctors in Venezuela.

The night also saw the Emerging Leaders and their colleagues nominate winners for the 2018 Awards.

Earlier on the day of the awards, the Emerging Leaders Forum, sponsored by Drooms, took place at the offices of law firm Taylor Wessing. Keep an eye out for an article on the content-filled event in the next issue of Credit Strategy magazine (November issue).

Shard Financial Media, owner of Credit Strategy, entered into a joint venture with The M&A Advisor in 2016 to continue its expansion into the EMEA region.
