Sam Osborn, Evolution Funding, is speaking at Credit Week 2026! Find out more about Sam and what she’s looking forward to at Credit Week below...
What was your journey to your role today, would you say it’s been a typical career path?
Probably not. Like quite a few of my colleagues at Evolution Funding I have been in the motor finance industry my whole career, but joining as a woman in the 1990’s and moving from a sales background into Risk and Compliance is probably not that typical. I started as a graduate trainee for Lombard Motor Finance, before working for Motonovo as an account manager and then on to Evolution Funding, first as an underwriter and then into compliance.
If you weren’t working in credit and financial services, what would you be doing?
Probably teaching or training.
What is something that not many people know about you?
I used to be in a choir.
What is the most significant challenge facing the credit/financial services industry today?
The Motor Finance redress scheme in my sector.
Which session or theme at Credit Week are you most looking forward to, and why?
Weaponised intelligence: How organised crime is using AI to target vulnerable customers – because we are seeing increased levels of organised crime and the use of AI, this feels like a really interesting section, especially as I look after fraud and vulnerability in our business.
What trend or development are you excited about in the credit / financial services sector?
The use of technology and AI in a positive way to benefit both consumers and firms.
What do you hope to take away from Credit Week 2026?
Greater knowledge on tools out there to manage risk more effectively and lots of great networking opportunities.
What advice would you give to someone who’s starting their career in the industry?
This is a great industry full of fantastic people. There are constantly new opportunities in this ever-changing market, and if you are willing to push yourself outside your comfort zone, the sky is the limit.
