What was your journey to your role today, would you say it’s been a typical career path?

I took a slightly unusual path to my current role having initially qualified as a barrister! I then spent nearly a decade in a global EdTech company before joining Flexys as COO in January 2022. I then moved into the CEO role in September 2022 and have spent the last 3 years leading the business through our scale-up phase.

If you weren’t working in credit and financial services, what would you be doing?

I expect that I would have continued on the legal pathway as a barrister specialising in criminal defence.

What is something that not many people know about you?

Albeit I don’t play anymore, I did manage to (somehow) get a Grade 8 in both violin and piano.

What is the most significant challenge facing the credit/financial services industry today?

The economic environment remains incredibly challenging and pressure on consumers remains very high. In the last few years the pressures on individuals and households has increased enormously and financial security & wellbeing has been a huge issue. Financial services organisations and utilities have seen these pressures first hand and have had to adapt to meet changing customer needs, rising expectations, all whilst operating in a challenging economic environment.

Which session or theme at Credit Week are you most looking forward to, and why?

Obviously I would have to say the session we are running with Aldermore and Oakbrook on The New Era of customer-centric collections!

What trend or development are you excited about in the credit / FS sector?

Transformation is always top of mind and, as a software vendor, I’m always interested in the different approaches organisations take to this. Rising customer expectations, increased pressures on operating margins and regulatory challenges provide an intriguing backdrop for organisations who are embarking on this journey.

What do you hope to take away from Credit Week 2026?

Credit Week is always a fantastic opportunity to meet with familiar faces, hear about the latest industry trends and understand how best we can support organisations over the coming year.

What advice would you give to someone who’s starting their career in the industry?

I would encourage people to take every opportunity they can to build a network of peers and absorb as much knowledge and experience as they can from them. Obviously, attending Credit Week is also a great opportunity to develop their knowledge and their network!
