What was your journey to your role today, would you say it’s been a typical career path?

My career path hasn’t been typical I never started out wanting to be a regulator! But once I started on this path, I realised how rewarding and important a role in public service was, drawn by a passion to do the right thing.

If you weren’t working in credit and financial services, what would you be doing?

If I weren’t working in financial services, I think I’d have pursued a public service role. I’ve always enjoyed problem solving and have a healthy dose of curiosity.

What is something that not many people know about you?

Something not many people know about me is I played netball for many decades.

What is the most significant challenge facing the credit/financial services industry today?

The consumer credit market is evolving rapidly, shaped by the pandemic, the cost‑of‑living pressures and shifting attitudes toward debt, making it harder for firms to predict and meet consumers’ changing needs. Keeping pace with evolving consumer needs, maintaining high standards and embracing innovation is critical to its future sustainability.

Our ongoing work aims to make sure the Consumer Duty is integral to the way firms treat their customers, including those suffering vulnerability. This will increase consumer confidence when seeking suitable products and services

Firms should also grasp the opportunities for growth from developments in technology and changes in regulation. We want to support them via our Innovate function where possible.

Which session or theme at Credit Week are you most looking forward to, and why?

I’m most looking forward to the discussions on innovation and open finance. These are topics that are particularly relevant in the current climate, and I’m eager to hear perspectives from industry leaders.

What do you hope to take away from Credit Week 2026?

I hope to come away with new insights into emerging trends and best practices in the sector. Networking with firms and market participants is also high on my list.

What advice would you give to someone who’s starting their career in the industry?

My advice would be to stay curious and never stop learning. The industry is constantly evolving, so embrace every opportunity for professional development and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
