Borderway Finance Limited

United Kingdom

Dave has worked in financial services for over 30 years, starting his career at Nationwide Building Society, where he held a number of senior roles in internal audit and compliance. In his last three years at Nationwide he was a member of the Group Risk senior management team, with responsibility for leading the Compliance Review team. Dave joined the Lending Standards Board (LSB) as Compliance Director in July 2013, and became CEO in 2016. Dave worked closely with the industry and the regulators in developing self-regulation and voluntary standards as a key complement to statutory regulation, enabling firms to deliver good customer outcomes. Under Dave’s leadership the LSB established standards for both personal and business lending and, in the case of the latter, extended the business standards to protect all UK SMEs. He strengthened the LSB’s role in the industry by taking on areas that extend beyond lending, most notably the access to banking standard and the recent code governing reimbursement for APP scams. Dave joined Virgin Money’s Risk function in 2019 and is currently Head of Strategic & ESG Risk. He has held various roles covering operational and conduct risks, with his current role including oversight of key strategic projects such as Consumer Duty.
