Brian Pitt

Brian is Group CEO and co-founder of Rockstead, a company launched in 2008 to support the strategy of raising standards across the financial services industry. With a career spanning 50 years in financial services, primarily with lenders, Brian has seen and experienced several recessions. His first exposure to mortgages and savings came during 13 years at the Halifax, followed by a period as an intermediary and then part of the start-up team at HMC in the 80’s – one of the first centralised lenders. His experience as a member of the Exec team created a blueprint for his future specialisation in the mortgage sector, in start-ups managing large teams of people covering underwriting, credit/risk, sales/marketing and operations. He has been co-founder of several businesses over the years, including Future Mortgages in the 90s, subsequently sold to Citigroup, Pepper Homeloans in Australia where he was an original shareholder, the Beacon Group, which was a unique combination of IFA, mortgage distributor and ultimately a lender and latterly Rockstead. He has also utilised his experience to help lending and distribution companies expand into new arenas, including Kensington Mortgages and TFC. Over the years he has held various FSA (now FCA) control functions and sat on a number of Boards; trade associations including the Finance Industry Standards Association (FISA), Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association (IMLA) and he was a member of the Mortgage Code Compliance Board (MCCB) Advisory Group. That wide exposure to all aspects of the mortgage industry was the driver to co-found Rockstead to support the market in a role that had to that point had been poorly represented. The business was created in 2008 and brought together a number of professional individuals who had complimentary skills in the mortgage and loans industry and it is now the recognised leader in the sector across the UK and Ireland.
