Debt purchaser Lowell has expanded its UK executive team with the appointment of a chief risk officer and managing director of servicing.
Bill Flynn has been appointed to the combined role of UK chief risk officer and group general counsel, while Laurence Hamilton has been appointed as managing director of Lowell’s UK servicing and business development.
Flynn will lead the group’s UK legal function, reporting directly to Lowell’s chief executive, James Cornell, and will be responsible for risk and compliance in the UK, reporting to a soon-to-be -appointed group chief risk officer.
As a member of the UK executive team, he will be responsible for ensuring the group operates in line with regulatory standards.
Flynn previously worked at Wonga as the group general counsel and was responsible for steering the business through a period of regulatory scrutiny.
Hamilton will take overall responsibility for the development and commercial performance of Fredrickson, the third-party collection business, and lead Lowell’s key business development strategies. He will report in to Marc Schillinger, group chief sales officer, and Cornell, pending the appointment of a UK regional manager.
Hamilton previously held the role of managing director of TDX group and senior vice president of international debt services at Equifax.
Cornell said: “I am excited to be welcoming Bill and Laurence into the UK executive team, and look forward to working with them to achieve our vision – to be the best in our field.”
